SME Names Three Advisors to its Additive Manufacturing Technical Community Leadership Committee

(SOUTHFIELD, Mich., August 25, 2023)SME, the nonprofit committed to accelerating new manufacturing technology adoption and building North America’s talent and capabilities, has named three additive manufacturing (AM) professionals to its Additive Manufacturing Technical Community Leadership Committee.

Named to the committee are:

  • William Cuervo, vice president – Sales at 3YOURMIND North America
  • Chinedum (“Chi”) Okwudire, professor of Mechanical Engineering and Miller Faculty Scholar, University of Michigan; founder/CTO, Ulendo Technologies, Inc.
  • Annie Wang, president, Senvol

“These additive manufacturing experts are on the leading edge of technologies and processes that help improve AM products, bringing them to market faster and more cost-effectively,” said Stacey DelVecchio, president, StaceyD Consulting and chair of SME’s Additive Manufacturing Technical Community Leadership Committee. “Their presence on the leadership committee will help us advance AM technology more quickly and will positively impact its adoption across industry.”

The role of the SME AM Technical Community Leadership Committee Advisors is to provide timely and expert guidance to SME on AM activities, initiatives, and content to best serve the AM community. The AM Advisors also serve as “faces of the industry” for SME. These three new advisors join a group of 12 other professionals in leading the AM community.

William Cuervo is vice president – Sales at 3YOURMIND North America. The company develops end-to-end on-demand manufacturing software that empowers defense organizations and enterprise companies to identify and produce parts when and where they are needed. At 3YOURMIND, he leads several activities with the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps and the Office Under Secretary of Defense focusing on advanced manufacturing for maintenance and sustainment, distributed manufacturing and crisis response.

Cuervo also serves as ambassador of the Additive Manufacturing Coalition and is a graduate of Norwich University, the oldest private senior military college in the United States.

Chinedum (“Chi”) Okwudire, is professor of Mechanical Engineering and Miller Faculty Scholar, University of Michigan, and a founder and CTO of Ulendo Technologies, Inc.

His research is focused on exploiting knowledge at the intersection of machine design, control and computing to boost the performance of manufacturing automation systems at low cost. His research has found applications in additive manufacturing, robotics, machining and nanopositioning. He has co-authored a number of best-paper-award-winning papers in the areas of manufacturing automation, control and mechatronics.

Annie Wang is president, Senvol, the industry leader in data for additive manufacturing. At Senvol, Wang has overseen the creation of the Senvol Database, which is the industry’s first and most comprehensive database for industrial additive manufacturing machines and materials; as well as Senvol ML – data-driven machine learning software for AM. Her focus is on analyzing the correlation among material properties, process parameters, and feedstock properties. Wang received a bachelor‘s in chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania,  a master‘s in international studies from The Lauder Institute and an MBA from the Wharton Business School.
