ASU Six Sigma Certification

World-Class Six Sigma Certification Partnership

The Society of Manufacturing Engineers is pleased to bring an exciting evolution of world-class Six Sigma training and certification to our members through a special agreement with Arizona State University’s Fulton School of Engineering (ASU).

The Six Sigma programs were developed and are delivered by award winning ASU IE faculty members; Dr. Doug Montgomery, Dr. George Runger, Dr. Dan Shunk, and Dr. John Fowler, as well as experts from industry.

The programs integrate:

  • video streamed lectures
  • exercises, practice tools, and concepts
  • case analysis in engineering/manufacturing and business transactional areas
  • interactive discussions with peers and a moderating coach

Programs available to SME members:

Black Belt: learn to demonstrate team leadership, understand dynamics, roles and responsibilities. Facilitate breakthrough improvements in key processes that support the overall aims of an enterprise or operating unit through the DMAIC methodology. Find out more.

Green Belt: candidate discovers how to best apply the supporting tools providing short-cycle, high-yield improvements in the business processes within their organization using methodology, metrics, tools, Value Stream Mapping, and analytical skills for successful project execution. Find out more.

Robust Design for Six Sigma (RDFSS): is a new set of engineering and statistical tools to be used during the product realization process to ensure that products meet customer needs and that the critical functional performance, or critical-to-quality characteristics, of these products exhibit minimum variability. The corrupting influence of variability in product quality characteristics is a primary source of customer dissatisfaction. This course is intended for engineers, scientists, and managers involved in all phases of product realization; design, development, manufacturing/process engineering, materials, quality, and reliability. It provides both an approach and a specific set of tools, including computer software, for successfully implementing RDFSS. Find out more.
