German machine manufacturing company Trumpf Group today reported 5.4 billion euros in sales at the close of fiscal year June 2022/23, a 27% increase from 4.2 billion euros in the year prior. This marks the highest sales revenue in the company’s 100-year history, Trumpf says.

Order intake for the period fell 8.8% to 5.1 billion euros from 5.6 billion in the 2021/22 fiscal year. Operating earnings before interest and taxes grew 31.4% to 615.4 million euros from 468.4 million.

TRUMPF's strongest single market by sales was the United States, where the company obtained 899 million euros in revenue. In Germany, where Trumpf is based, sales increased to 779 million euros from 589 million euros.

The largest share of revenue was accounted for by the Machine Tools division with 3 billion euros, which increased by 32.8% compared to the previous year’s 2.3 billion. That’s followed by the Laser Technology division with 2.1 billion euros, a 28% increase from 1.6 billion.

From June 2022-23, TRUMPF employees increased by nearly 1,800. New jobs were created in the growth fields of EUV and electronics. The company currently employs more than 18,000 people.

"Our anniversary year was an extraordinarily successful one for Trumpf. The growth in sales was due to the general upturn in demand for all Trumpf products and in particular to the resolution of supply chain problems that led to delivery delays in the previous year. As a result, we had a high order backlog that we were able to work off. Since spring, however, we have felt a decline in demand in many markets. In view of the difficult overall economic development, I am therefore very cautious about the coming months," said Nicola Leibinger-Kammüller, CEO of TRUMPF at a press conference in Ditzingen, Germany.
